The Great Lakes Sisterhood M.C. was started in 2002 as a way for women bikers in Michigan to connect with other women riders. A few good friends bought motorcycles and began riding together. They so enjoyed their group riding experience that they quickly recognized this was something they wanted to share with other women. The group rapidly expanded to 8 riders and the Club was born. Although the majority of our members are located in the mid-Michigan region, there are now members from all over the state. It is hoped that eventually there will be enough members to form Regional Chapters.
The Club is open to all makes and size of bikes, as well as all experience levels. Group rides are usually on Sundays, weather depending. Other activities include weekend camping trips and charity rides throughout the season. One week of the summer is a group riding vacation. The group ride in 2005 was to Sturgis, South Dakota. The 2006 trip is a Circle Tour of Lake Superior. In both 2007 and 2008 we went to the Great Smoky Mountains, rode the famous Dragon’s Tail ride and stayed in beautiful mountain cottages.
Since the beginning of the Club, we have had the privilege of leading the Capital Pride March. Each year we have had more bikes join us in leading the march. In 2006 we had 18 bikes join us to lead the March, 38 in 2007, and we look forward to greater numbers in the future.
Guests are always welcome to ride with the Club. However, we think once you see how much fun we have, you will want to become a full member.
